The 2026 International Emmy nominees span 22 countries and 16 categories, bringing series and performers from Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas into competition for television honors in New York this fall. The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the 64 nominees on September 23, with titles including A Thousand Blows, Carême, Man vs Baby and The Eternaut represented across major categories.

The nominations cover drama, comedy, documentary, news, current affairs, children’s programming, non-scripted entertainment and individual performances. Winners will be announced at the 54th International Emmy Awards Gala in New York City on November 23.

2026 International Emmy nominees represent 22 countries

The International Academy’s complete nominee announcement lists programs and performances from Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, the Philippines, Portugal, Qatar, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Türkiye and the United Kingdom.

That geographic range is central to the International Emmys, which recognize television produced outside the United States. This year’s slate includes programming distributed by major global streaming platforms alongside productions from national broadcasters and regional media companies.

The Academy has 64 nominees in total. With 16 categories and four nominees in each, the competition ranges from scripted drama and comedy to news, documentary, sports documentary and children’s programming.

A Thousand Blows and Carême compete for drama series

The Drama Series category brings together four productions from four countries. The United Kingdom is represented by Disney+’s A Thousand Blows, while Apple TV’s French period drama Carême is also nominated.

Argentina’s Menem, produced by Claxson and Amazon MGM Studios, joins them, while India’s Real Kashmir Football Club, from Sony LIV, Jaya Entertainment and Oshun Entertainment, completes the category.

The comedy field is similarly international. Argentina’s División Palermo Season 2 competes with the British Netflix comedy Man vs Baby, Spain’s Old Dog, New Tricks and Indian stand-up special Vir Das: Fool Volume.

The Hollywood Reporter’s coverage of the nominations also highlights A Thousand Blows, Man vs Baby and Carême among the internationally recognized productions in this year’s field.

Ricardo Darín enters the acting race with The Eternaut

Individual performance categories add several recognizable international names. Argentina’s Ricardo Darín is nominated for his performance in Netflix’s The Eternaut, competing for Best Performance by an Actor against Spain’s Javier Cámara for Jakarta, South Africa’s Ian Roberts for A Kind of Madness and the United Kingdom’s Bobby Schofield for Unforgivable.

The Best Performance by an Actress category includes Mona Mina Leon of Belgium for Holy Sh!t, Bárbara Mori of Mexico for Lucca’s World, Park Ji-hyun of South Korea for You and Everything Else and Sheridan Smith of the United Kingdom for I Fought the Law.

The nominations demonstrate how global streaming has become intertwined with the International Emmy field. Netflix is attached to nominees from Argentina, Mexico, South Korea, India, Spain and Japan, while Disney+, Apple TV, Amazon MGM Studios, Warner Bros. Discovery and other international broadcasters and producers appear elsewhere across the categories.

Documentaries and factual programming broaden the field

The documentary category includes Louis Theroux: The Settlers from the United Kingdom, Mexico’s Marcial Maciel: The Wolf of God, Singapore’s One “Orphan” Every Hour and the French production Addiction Criminals.

Singapore also appears in Arts Programming with Copy + Paste + Steal, a documentary examining creatives confronting the growth of generative artificial intelligence. CNA confirmed that both Copy + Paste + Steal and One “Orphan” Every Hour received nominations, marking the third consecutive year in which a CNA documentary has appeared among the International Emmy nominees.

Other categories extend from current affairs and news to sports documentaries, telenovelas and children’s programming, making the nominee list substantially broader than a conventional scripted-television awards slate.

The International Emmy Awards return to New York in November

The nominees are scheduled to gather in New York for the International Emmy World Television Festival from November 20 through November 22. The awards gala follows on Monday, November 23.

The Academy’s 2026 awards calendar confirms the November 23 gala and the 16 categories being presented.

The September nominations establish a field that crosses languages, platforms and production markets rather than centering one dominant television industry. Streaming services have helped make many of the nominated titles accessible internationally, but the production companies and countries behind them remain central to how the International Academy classifies the work.

With 64 contenders from 22 countries, the 2026 International Emmy nominees now move toward November’s New York ceremony, where the Academy will determine the winners across one of television’s broadest international fields.
