At a scheduled performance at Mall of America in Minnesota, 22-year-old singer JoJo Siwa was rushed to hospital after experiencing “excruciating pain” and difficulty breathing.

She later explained in a video on TikTok that she had been having stomach pain for several days, which suddenly grew much worse on the morning of the show. She tried resting and even took a bath — but the pain intensified so much that she feared she would faint or vomit.

Her mother called 911. Although paramedics initially said her vital signs were “normal,” she was taken to the hospital for further check-up.

What doctors found

At the hospital, an ultrasound revealed that JoJo had a burst ovarian cyst that was bleeding into her stomach. That bleeding caused extreme pain and difficulty breathing.

She was given pain medication and treated immediately. Doctors said the issue should clear up on its own without surgery. She was discharged in just a couple of hours — in time to still make her show.

Despite it all — she performed

Remarkably, soon after being released, JoJo Siwa returned to the stage at Mall of America and completed her scheduled performance. She told fans she was “doing all right,” though not fully recovered, and expected to regain full health in one to two weeks (provided there are no complications).

In a social media post, she expressed gratitude to the doctors and nurses who treated her swiftly, and thanked her fans for their support and good wishes.

How fans reacted, and what we learn

Many fans praised her dedication — admiring that she showed up for the performance despite a serious health scare. Some however reminded her to take care of her health first.

This episode shows how unpredictable health emergencies can be — even for busy performers. What helped JoJo was quick medical attention, a correct diagnosis, and prompt care.

What JoJo said after

  • She shared that the pain began a few days earlier, and she didn’t take it too seriously at first — hoping it was just a cramp.
  • When the pain “went off” on Friday morning, she realized it might be serious and called for help.
  • About the cyst: “It was bleeding into my stomach,” she said — that was why pain was so intense.
  • She promised to take it easy and check with doctors again soon.

Why this matters

  • Burst ovarian cysts can be very serious. Quick diagnosis and care can help avoid complications.
  • Even major events like concerts can carry health risks; performers are human too.
  • JoJo’s commitment shows professionalism — but it also reminds us that health should come first, always.
