In a recent episode of her iHeartRadio podcast, Call It What It Is, co-hosted with fellow Grey’s alum Camilla Luddington, Capshaw opened up about her audition for Season 3 of The White Lotus—and why she’s not giving up after losing the role to Leslie Bibb.

A Setback—But Not a Stop Sign

Capshaw shared that she auditioned for a role in the latest season of The White Lotus, but it ultimately went to actress Leslie Bibb. Instead of being discouraged, she’s taking it in stride.

“I’ll keep auditioning,” Capshaw said. “That’s what I did for Grey’s Anatomy. I loved that show and was willing to try again and again. It took me three auditions to land Arizona Robbins—so I’m hoping it’ll only take two for The White Lotus. I’m not giving up.”

Her optimism and persistence are as inspiring as ever.

Even after years in the industry, Capshaw still finds joy in the audition process.

“Auditioning is always exciting. You never know how it’ll turn out,” she explained. “What’s so fascinating about casting is how different everyone’s interpretation is—each person brings something unique to the table.”

Luddington Wants More Drama (In the Best Way)

While Capshaw was reflecting, co-host Camilla Luddington had a spicier take on the direction The White Lotus should go.

“Honestly, I kind of wanted one of the characters to say, ‘Go f— yourself,’” Luddington joked. “I imagined a big fallout at dinner, followed by a reluctant group photo, and then during the gunfight, they’d all be trauma-bonded and realize what really matters.”

Now that’s the kind of chaos The White Lotus fans would totally eat up.
