PS5 Is Getting One of the Most-Requested PS3 Game Remasters

Fans are excited as an iconic classic finally heads to modern consoles

Sony’s State of Play showcase this week revealed a big surprise for long-time gamers: one of the most requested PlayStation 3 action-adventure games is finally being remastered and made playable on the PlayStation 5 and other modern platforms.

Gamers have been asking for this one for years because the original was only playable on the older PS3 system — and it couldn’t easily be played on newer machines until now.

What Game Is Coming to PS5?

Sony confirmed that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots — one of the most beloved games from the PS3 era — will be included in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2.

This collection will bring Metal Gear Solid 4 to modern systems for the first time, including:

• PlayStation 5
• Xbox Series X/S
• PC
• Nintendo Switch 2
• Nintendo Switch

It will also include other classic Metal Gear titles like Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and Metal Gear Solid: Ghost Babel as part of the collection.

Release date: August 27, 2026

Both physical and digital versions are now available for preorder.

Why This Matters to Fans

Metal Gear Solid 4 has become one of the most requested PS3 remasters because:

• It was exclusive to PS3 and never had an official modern release.
• It’s a story-rich, cinematic stealth-action game widely praised for its narrative depth and gameplay.
• The series has a devoted fan base that has wanted it on newer consoles for years.

Many players in gaming communities have long listed MGS4 among the top PS3 classics they wanted back, along with other action-adventure titles that have yet to be remastered or re-released.

What the Master Collection Includes

The upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 adds a lot of value for fans and newcomers alike. Here’s a sense of what’s included:

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker	Originally on PSP, now part of the collection
Metal Gear Solid: Ghost Babel	Classic Game Boy Color title included

The collection offers both nostalgia for long-time fans and a great way for new players to experience key entries from the Metal Gear series.

What Fans Are Saying

Long-time gamers are celebrating the announcement online because MGS4 was seen as a hard-to-bring-back game due to its complex PS3 architecture and technical design.

Players have shared lists of other games they want to see remastered, showing that interest is strong for more PS3 era classics on PS5.

Why This Is Big for PS5 Players

This release is important because:

• It brings a major classic back to life for modern players.
• It makes story-rich action games easier to access on current consoles.
• It brings years of gaming history to new audiences.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 may be one of 2026’s most anticipated remaster projects, satisfying fans who have waited years for beloved PS3 titles to return.
