Apple TV Renews ‘Carême’ for Season 2 After International Emmy Nomination
Benjamin Voisin will return as Antonin Carême, with Martin Bourboulon directing as production prepares to resume in Paris.
Apple TV has renewed its French-language period drama Carême for a second season, with Benjamin Voisin returning as Antonin Carême and director Martin Bourboulon remaining with the series. Apple announced the renewal on September 29, less than a week after the show received a 2026 International Emmy nomination for Drama Series.
The Carême Season 2 Apple TV renewal comes with production already approaching: Apple’s official announcement says filming is slated to begin next week in Paris. Jérémie Renier and Alice Da Luz are also confirmed to return alongside Voisin.
Carême Season 2 will return to Paris
The renewal keeps the historical drama centered on Antonin Carême, the French chef whose rise from poverty to culinary celebrity unfolds against the political world of Napoleonic France.
Voisin returns in the title role, while Bourboulon will again direct. Apple has also confirmed Renier and Da Luz for the second season, although the company has not yet announced a complete returning or new cast.
Vital Thrills independently confirmed the renewal and Apple’s plan to begin production in Paris following the show’s International Emmy recognition.
The first season filmed at historic French locations including the Palais des Tuileries, Château de Fontainebleau, Château de Chantilly and Château de Compiègne. Apple has not yet specified which individual locations will be used for Season 2.

The renewal follows Carême’s International Emmy nomination
The timing gives the renewal an awards-season connection. On September 23, the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences nominated Carême for Drama Series at the 2026 International Emmy Awards.
TSJ’s coverage of the 2026 International Emmy nominees detailed the four-title drama field, where the French Apple series competes against the United Kingdom’s A Thousand Blows, Argentina’s Menem and India’s Real Kashmir Football Club.
The winner will be announced at the International Emmy Awards Gala in New York on November 23. The nomination does not determine the renewal, but Apple explicitly announced Season 2 “on the heels” of the recognition, making the proximity part of the company’s own framing of the decision.
Benjamin Voisin returns as the world’s first celebrity chef

Carême is inspired by the life of Marie-Antoine Carême, portrayed in the series as an ambitious young chef whose culinary talent draws him into the orbit of political power.
The drama is based on historian Ian Kelly’s book Carême: The First Celebrity Chef. Kelly created the television series with Davide Serino, while Vanessa van Zuylen executive produces through VVZ Production and Dominique Farrugia executive produces through Shine Fiction, part of Banijay France.
The show’s premise uses Carême’s culinary ambitions as the entry point into a larger story involving espionage, political maneuvering, wealth and celebrity in post-Revolutionary France.
AppleMagazine’s coverage of the renewal likewise confirms Voisin’s return, Bourboulon’s continued involvement and the planned Paris production start.
Carême adds another returning series to Apple’s international slate
The renewal also adds to Apple’s growing catalog of television produced outside the United States. Carême is a French-language production, while the service’s international programming spans multiple languages and production markets.
Its renewal arrives as Apple continues balancing new dramas with returning series. TSJ’s current guide to the best shows on Apple TV highlights how established returning titles such as Slow Horses, Pachinko and Silo sit alongside newer additions to the service.
Apple has not announced a Season 2 premiere date, episode count or detailed story synopsis. Those omissions are important because the September 29 announcement confirms production and returning talent without establishing when viewers will see the next chapter.
For now, the renewal moves Carême from an International Emmy nominee with a completed first season to an active returning production. With filming scheduled to resume in Paris, the next confirmed milestone will come from production rather than an already-set release calendar.
