The Dexter Resurrection Season 2 trailer has arrived, putting Michael C. Hall’s Dexter Morgan between two new serial-killer threats before the Showtime drama returns Friday, October 30. Paramount+ released the official trailer and new key art on October 1, confirming that Season 2 will stream through the service’s Premium plan.

The trailer gives clearer shape to the two-killer setup Paramount previously teased. Brian Cox plays Don Framt, also known as the New York Ripper, while Dan Stevens plays the Five Borough Killer, a newer threat building a reputation across the city. At the same time, Harrison Morgan, played by Jack Alcott, continues his own pursuit of justice as his relationship with Dexter moves into another dangerous phase.

Dexter Resurrection Season 2 trailer introduces two very different killers

Season 2 is designed around a contrast between an infamous killer from New York’s past and a younger murderer creating a new wave of fear. Paramount describes Dexter as caught between one killer with decades of notoriety and another who is terrorizing New York in ways the city has not seen before.

Entertainment Weekly identifies Cox’s character as Don Framt, the New York Ripper, a former subway employee who now uses a wheelchair after an accident. The report says Framt continues to torment survivors and relatives of his victims, extending his threat beyond the killings associated with his past.

Stevens, meanwhile, plays the Five Borough Killer. The trailer positions the younger murderer as a rising name in New York, creating an unusual problem for Dexter: another killer is attracting the attention and notoriety he once commanded from the shadows.

The footage turns that rivalry into part of Dexter’s broader midlife crisis. The season is not simply introducing two antagonists. It is also placing Dexter in a city where younger killers, old enemies and people from his own history are converging at the same time.

TSJ’s earlier coverage of the Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 first look established the two-killer premise in July. The October trailer is a material new development because Paramount has now set the October 30 premiere, released the first full trailer and shown how those threats begin to intersect with Dexter and Harrison.

Harrison moves deeper into law enforcement

Harrison’s story also appears to move closer to the institutions that would normally be hunting someone like Dexter. Entertainment Weekly reports that Harrison becomes a police officer and works with a new partner, Fiona Mixon, played by Nona Parker Johnson. Detective Claudette Wallace, played by Kadia Saraf, brings them into the effort surrounding Framt.

That creates a different pressure point for the father and son. Paramount’s official synopsis says Harrison continues his own pursuit of justice while he and Dexter face what the company calls their darkest chapter yet. The trailer does not establish how much Harrison knows about every part of his father’s current activity, so the season’s exact father-son conflict remains unresolved.

Returning faces expand Dexter’s New York story

Hall leads a returning ensemble that includes Uma Thurman, Jack Alcott, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusa, Desmond Harrington and James Remar. Cox, Stevens, Bokeem Woodbine and Nona Parker Johnson join Season 2 as series regulars, while Krysten Ritter returns as a guest star and Gabriel Luna joins in a guest role.

The expanded cast gives the new season several ways to connect Dexter’s past with the danger developing around him in New York. Variety also reported the Season 2 trailer release, while Paramount confirms that Clyde Phillips remains showrunner and an executive producer alongside Hall and other members of the producing team.

Paramount Television Studios and Counterpart Studios produce the series. Season 1 remains available through the Paramount+ Premium plan.

Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 premieres Friday, October 30, on Paramount+ through the Premium plan. The timing places the return just before Halloween, giving the crime drama a late-October launch after months of first-look images and casting announcements.

Paramount is also bringing back Dexter: Final Cut, the official aftershow hosted by Jamie Chung. New episodes begin October 31 on the official Dexter YouTube channel, with guests scheduled to include Scott Reynolds, Desmond Harrington, Gabriel Luna, Jack Dylan Grazer, Marcos Siega and Jack Alcott.

The official Season 2 trailer is the clearest look yet at how Cox and Stevens fit into Dexter’s next New York chapter. With the premiere date now set, the question shifts from who the new threats are to how long Dexter can operate between them without exposing more of himself to Harrison and the people closing in around him.
