The Neagley Prime Video trailer arrived on August 12, putting Maria Sten’s Frances Neagley at the center of her own action series as Amazon expands the world of Reacher. The eight-episode spinoff premieres September 16, immediately following the Season 4 finale of the flagship series, with all episodes scheduled to become available at once.

The trailer shifts the focus away from Jack Reacher and toward the former Army investigator who has become one of the franchise’s most recognizable supporting characters. Prime Video’s official synopsis places Neagley in Chicago, where the suspicious death of someone from her past sends her into an investigation that becomes increasingly dangerous.

Prime Video released the first full trailer through its Amazon MGM Studios press site on August 12, confirming the September 16 release and the series’ eight-episode structure.

Sten reprises the role of Frances Neagley, a former member of the Army’s 110th Special Investigations Unit who now works as a private investigator in Chicago. The character has appeared throughout Reacher as one of the few people Jack Reacher consistently trusts, but the new series is designed to explore her life independently of him.

The official About Amazon guide to Neagley describes the new story as beginning after an old friend’s death in what is initially characterized as a suspicious accident. Neagley begins investigating and is pulled toward a broader threat while relying on skills developed during her military career.

The trailer emphasizes that distinction. Rather than framing Sten’s character simply as an extension of Reacher, the footage establishes a separate investigation, supporting ensemble and set of personal stakes.

The Reacher universe expands beyond Jack Reacher

The arrival of Neagley marks a significant step for the television franchise because it is the first series built around another major character from Lee Child’s universe.

That expansion comes as Reacher itself remains active. Prime Video launched Season 4 on August 12 with three episodes and is releasing additional installments weekly through September 16. The timing creates a direct transition from the flagship season finale into the spinoff premiere.

The Hollywood Reporter independently confirmed the new trailer and Sten’s return as the title character, while Variety reported that the trailer introduces a murder mystery involving a dangerous group at the center of Neagley’s investigation.

Alan Ritchson is also expected to appear as Jack Reacher in a guest role, according to Prime Video. The casting connects the two series without making the new show entirely dependent on the original lead.

The series follows Frances Neagley after she learns that a close friend from her past has died under suspicious circumstances. Her investigation draws her into a larger conspiracy while forcing her to confront elements of her own history.

Sten is joined by Greyston Holt as Detective Hudson Riley, Jasper Jones as Keno, Adeline Rudolph as Renee, Matthew Del Negro as Pierce Woodrow and Damon Herriman as Lawrence Cole.

The show was developed by Nick Santora and Nicholas Wootton. Santora is already closely associated with the franchise through his work on Reacher, while Lee Child, whose novels introduced the characters, is among the executive producers.

Amazon MGM Studios produces the series alongside CBS Studios and other production partners associated with the franchise.

Neagley has gradually become more prominent across the television adaptation. Her familiarity with Reacher’s methods and their shared military history made her a recurring ally, but the spinoff gives the character an opportunity to operate without Reacher directing the story.

That shift also allows the series to explore aspects of Neagley’s personality that have only been addressed selectively in the parent show. Previous first-look material from Prime Video positioned the series as both an action thriller and a closer examination of how Neagley functions outside the relationships viewers already know.

The decision to release all eight episodes simultaneously also separates the spinoff’s rollout from the weekly structure currently being used for Reacher Season 4. Viewers who finish the flagship finale on September 16 will be able to move directly into the complete first season of Neagley.

The coordinated release creates an unusually direct handoff between two shows in the same franchise. Prime Video has scheduled the Reacher Season 4 finale and the complete debut of Neagley for the same day.

What remains unknown is how closely the events of the two shows will intersect beyond Ritchson’s guest appearance. Prime Video has not indicated that viewers must finish Season 4 before watching the spinoff, nor has it disclosed whether events in one series will materially alter the other.

For now, the August 12 trailer establishes the core proposition clearly: Frances Neagley is no longer simply helping Reacher solve someone else’s case. When Neagley arrives September 16, the investigation, and the franchise spotlight, will belong to her.
