Amazon MGM Studios has unveiled the first image of Nicolas Cage as Spider-Noir in their upcoming live-action series, set to premiere in 2026. The series reimagines Cage as an aging private investigator in 1930s New York, confronting his past as the city’s only superhero.

“Spider-Noir” is a noir-style take on the Spider-Man universe. The series will be available in both black-and-white and color formats. It marks the first live-action Spider-Man series since 1979’s Japanese version.

Character Background

In the comics, Spider-Man Noir is an alternate version of Peter Parker from the Marvel Noir universe (Earth-90214). Set during the Great Depression, this version of Spider-Man is a darker, grittier take on the classic character. After being bitten by a spider housed inside a spider-god idol, Peter gains superhuman abilities and becomes a vigilante fighting crime and corruption in New York City. 

Spider-Noir’s Powers

Spider-Noir possesses several abilities:

  • Superhuman strength, speed, and agility
  • Enhanced reflexes and durability
  • Spider-sense that warns of danger
  • Ability to cling to walls and ceilings
  • Organic webbing projected from his wrists
  • Expert hand-to-hand combatant and marksman

Unlike the traditional Spider-Man, Spider-Noir often uses firearms and is willing to employ lethal force against his enemies. 

Production Details

The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television, Lord Miller, Pascal Pictures, and Amazon MGM Studios. Filming began in August 2024 in Los Angeles and is expected to conclude in February 2025. The series will consist of eight episodes. 

Release Information

“Spider-Noir” will premiere in the United States on MGM+ before becoming available globally on Amazon Prime Video. The exact release date has not been announced, but it is expected to debut in 2026.
