Radiohead Announces 21-Show 2027 Tour Across Australia and Japan
Radiohead has announced a 21-show 2027 tour across Australia and Japan, including extended arena runs in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Saitama.
The Radiohead 2027 tour will take the band to Australia and Japan for 21 arena shows next May and June, marking its first Australian concerts since 2012 and first headline appearances in Japan since 2008. Radiohead officially unveiled the dates September 7 after weeks of speculation about where the group would perform next.
The band’s official 2027 tour announcement lists 16 Australian concerts across Perth, Melbourne and Sydney, followed by five shows at GMO Arena Saitama in Japan. Radiohead also says these will be its only performances of 2027, although the group hopes to play elsewhere in future years.
Radiohead 2027 tour includes 21 arena shows
The run begins May 3 at RAC Arena in Perth, where Radiohead will play four shows on May 3, 4, 6 and 7. The band then moves to Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena for six performances scheduled for May 13, 14, 16, 17, 19 and 20.
Sydney receives another six-show residency at Afterpay Arena on May 25, 26, 28, 29 and 31 and June 1. Radiohead then travels to Japan for five nights at GMO Arena Saitama on June 8, 9, 11, 12 and 13.
Pitchfork independently confirmed the 21-date itinerary, reporting that the announcement followed earlier hints in Japan, including teaser footage and Radiohead 2027 billboards around Tokyo.
The schedule represents a major return to both markets. Radiohead last toured Australia in 2012, while its previous headline concerts in Japan took place in 2008.
Australia gets Radiohead’s largest 2027 run
Australia accounts for more than three quarters of the newly announced schedule. Rather than moving rapidly between cities, Radiohead has structured the trip around extended arena residencies, with four nights in Perth and six each in Melbourne and Sydney.
The Guardian reported the band’s Australian return as its first in 15 years, underscoring the gap since local audiences last had an opportunity to see the group perform.
The 2027 dates follow Radiohead’s return to touring in Europe in 2025. Those concerts marked the band’s first proper live run since 2018 after its members spent years pursuing individual and collaborative projects.
The band has not released a new studio album since A Moon Shaped Pool in 2016, making the renewed touring activity notable even without an accompanying new Radiohead studio record.
Radiohead introduces registration-based ticketing
The announcement also comes with a tightly controlled ticketing process. Radiohead says Australian fans must register through Frontier Touring between September 7 and September 10 for a chance to receive an unlock code.
Receiving a code does not guarantee a ticket. Successful registrants will gain access to the official ticketing platform, where tickets will then be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Purchases are limited to four tickets per registration.
The band’s official FAQ says the registration system is intended to reduce competition from bots and ticket scalpers. Radiohead also states that Australian ticket prices will remain fixed rather than using dynamic pricing.
Frontier Touring’s official Australian tour portal likewise identifies Radiohead’s 2027 run and directs fans into the registration process rather than a conventional immediate general sale.
Japan uses a separate application system
The five Japanese shows use a different process. Fans must register and apply through eplus, with separate application routes for residents of Japan and international visitors.
Radiohead says initial Japanese registration remains open through September 27. Applicants can request up to four tickets for each performance they are able to attend, and successful applicants are scheduled to receive notification beginning October 3.
The band is also taking a firm position on resale. Its official information says Australian resale and transfer will be handled through the authorized platform at face value, while ticket resale and name transfers are not permitted for the Japanese dates.
The announcement follows Radiohead’s 2025 return
The new dates extend a gradual return to live activity after Radiohead’s lengthy touring break. The group reunited for European arena performances in 2025, its first tour since 2018, rather than immediately launching another traditional worldwide cycle.
That approach continues with the newly announced schedule. The 21 concerts are concentrated in just four metropolitan areas rather than spread across a long sequence of one-night stops.
The band is also explicitly limiting expectations for additional dates. Its official FAQ states that no extra 2027 shows will be announced and describes the Australia and Japan performances as Radiohead’s only concerts of the year.
For fans who have waited more than a decade to see the band in these markets, the Radiohead 2027 tour therefore represents a rare return rather than the beginning of an open-ended global itinerary: 21 shows, four arena destinations and, according to Radiohead itself, no additional dates next year.
