Tasha Cobbs Leonard Announces TASHA Unscripted Live Album for September 11

Tasha Cobbs Leonard TASHA Unscripted is officially headed for release on September 11, the Grammy-winning gospel artist announced on August 7. The 34-track live album was recorded before an audience in Atlanta earlier this year and will arrive through Motown Gospel and Capitol Christian Music Group, extending Cobbs Leonard’s return to the live-recording format that has shaped much of her career.

The announcement also brings new music. Cobbs Leonard released “Gracefully Broken/Who the Son Sets Free (Live),” featuring Israel Houghton, alongside an official performance video. The project brings together material from her catalog, new music and appearances from Mickey Guyton, Jonathan McReynolds, Karen Clark Sheard, Kierra Sheard-Kelly, William Murphy, Houghton and other guests.

Tasha Cobbs Leonard TASHA Unscripted spans 34 live tracks

The scale of TASHA Unscripted is immediately apparent from its newly released track list. The album runs 34 tracks and includes performances, reprises, spoken moments and collaborations built around material from different stages of Cobbs Leonard’s career.

According to the official August 7 album announcement, the recording was designed to preserve the spontaneous character of the Atlanta event rather than simply reproduce familiar songs in conventional live arrangements.

The guest list reflects that approach. Guyton appears on “The Church I Grew Up In,” while McReynolds joins Cobbs Leonard for “For Your Glory.” Kierra Sheard appears on “Fill Me Up,” and Karen Clark Sheard joins “Put A Praise On It / Hallelujah” and “Jesus In The Morning.”

Other collaborators across the track list include Pastor Mike Todd, Travis Greene, Todd Galberth, Dante Bowe, Jonathan Nelson, Bishop Paul S. Morton, Le’Andria Johnson and Melvin Crispell III.

A new Israel Houghton performance arrives with the announcement

The album announcement is accompanied by “Gracefully Broken/Who the Son Sets Free (Live),” a collaboration with Israel Houghton that combines two worship songs within one extended performance.

It follows “Final Say,” another performance captured during the same TASHA UNSCRIPTED recording. Cobbs Leonard released that track earlier this summer as the first public indication of how the Atlanta session would translate into a larger recorded project.

The new album is notably different in format from 2025’s TASHA. That record was Cobbs Leonard’s first studio album after years in which live recordings became an important part of her catalog. TASHA Unscripted brings her back into a live setting while retaining the more personal creative direction associated with the preceding album.

The Recording Academy’s artist record lists three Grammy wins and 11 nominations for Cobbs Leonard, including 2026 nominations for TASHA and her John Legend collaboration “Church.”

The album grows out of an Atlanta live recording

The roots of the new project extend to an April live recording in Atlanta. Rather than treating that event solely as a concert, Cobbs Leonard built it around a less rigid performance structure that allowed songs, guests and audience responses to influence the direction of the night.

That event later became the foundation for both the album and a touring concept.

In May, Cobbs Leonard announced the first dates for the TASHA UNSCRIPTED NIGHTS TOUR. The official tour site currently lists stops beginning September 11 in Charlotte, followed by dates in Brunswick, Atlanta, the Washington area, New York and Boston.

The timing connects the album and tour directly. The first announced tour date falls on the same day TASHA Unscripted is scheduled for release.

TASHA Unscripted arrives during another awards season

The August announcement also comes shortly before another career recognition for Cobbs Leonard. Her representatives say she is scheduled to receive the Aretha Franklin Icon Award at the 41st Stellar Gospel Music Awards on August 15.

She enters the event with six Stellar Award nominations and recently added three nominations for the 2026 GMA Dove Awards. Her broader awards history includes the Grammy for “Break Every Chain,” as well as later wins for collaborations with Lecrae and the multi-artist recording “One Hallelujah.”

That history makes the return to live recording particularly relevant. Some of Cobbs Leonard’s best-known performances have emerged from live projects, and the newly announced album places that format at the center again rather than treating the Atlanta session as a standalone event.

September brings both the album and the tour

With the track list now public, the next major date is September 11. TASHA Unscripted is scheduled to arrive that day as Cobbs Leonard begins the touring extension of the project in Charlotte.

The official announcement says additional tour cities and dates are expected, while the current album track list establishes a much broader group of collaborators than could be inferred from the singles alone.

For Cobbs Leonard, the project links three parts of her current work: the Atlanta recording, a 34-track live album and a fall tour built around the same less-scripted performance concept.
