Kings of Leon Announce ‘O My Beloved,’ Their First Self-Produced Album

The Kings of Leon O My Beloved album will arrive November 6, giving the Tennessee rock band its 10th studio LP and its first full-length project produced entirely by the group itself. Kings of Leon announced the record Thursday, September 10, alongside the acoustic-led first single “My Whole World.”

The new era represents a deliberate turn inward after more than two decades of increasingly large stages and international touring. The Associated Press reported from direct interviews with the band that frontman Caleb Followill began moving toward the album’s stripped-back sound while recovering from a serious foot injury that temporarily left him unable to travel.

The unusual origin point came after Followill injured his foot while playing with his children. Forced into an unexpected period at home, he returned to an acoustic guitar and began writing material that felt markedly different from the more electric songs Kings of Leon had already been developing.

Rather than trying to fit the new songs into the existing material, the band followed the change in direction. The resulting record centers on family, childhood, gratitude and the perspective that comes with spending more than 20 years building a career together.

The album also gave the four musicians a level of production control they had not previously taken across an entire Kings of Leon LP. Caleb, Nathan, Jared and Matthew Followill produced O My Beloved themselves.

Kings of Leon also released an official video for “My Whole World,” pairing the album’s first single with personal imagery that reflects the record’s focus on family and memory.

“My Whole World” is the first public taste of that approach. The single moves away from the arena-sized guitar attack associated with some of the band’s largest hits and places more emphasis on acoustic textures, reflection and domestic imagery.

The release is officially dated September 10. Amazon Music’s listing for “My Whole World” identifies LoveTap Records and Virgin Music Group and confirms the four-minute single’s release date.

The accompanying video is similarly personal, incorporating family material into a song concerned with the people and experiences that become more valuable as time passes.

That tone appears to extend across the album. The track list includes “Cold Blue Dawn,” “The Hand,” “Rose,” “Make It Count,” “KOYSAR,” “Feel the Love,” “Blue Jeans and Diamonds,” “Warm Company,” “Forever Endeavor,” “Pretty Thing” and “Get You Down,” along with a brief opening track.

The band’s 10th album looks backward without becoming a greatest-hits project

The timing gives Kings of Leon an obvious opportunity to celebrate its history. The band’s debut album, Youth & Young Manhood, was released in 2003, while songs including “Sex on Fire” and “Use Somebody” later moved the group from rock clubs into arenas and festival-headliner territory.

Instead of packaging that history as a retrospective collection, however, the band has used its 10th studio album to write about the experiences behind it.

NME’s coverage of the announcement describes the record as centered on reminiscence, family and the band’s journey, with the Followills revisiting childhood memories and relationships that once seemed ordinary but gained significance with time.

The approach also distinguishes O My Beloved from 2024’s Can We Please Have Fun. That album was produced by Kid Harpoon, while the new project places the production decisions directly with the band.

The band paired the album announcement with a deliberately intimate performance at The Basement East in Nashville on September 10.

The venue holds only a fraction of the audiences Kings of Leon regularly plays for today, creating a connection to the group’s early years performing in smaller Tennessee rooms before its international breakthrough.

The show also gave “My Whole World” its live debut. Kings of Leon performed a career-spanning set and later brought Zach Bryan onstage for “Bowery,” continuing a recent collaborative relationship between the artists.

The scale of the performance fit the album’s broader direction. A band accustomed to major festivals and stadium-sized environments began its 10th-album campaign in a small hometown club, pairing a backward-looking record with a setting that resembled its formative years.

The significance is not simply that Kings of Leon has reached album number 10. The group is using that milestone to take full production control for the first time and to move toward material that is intentionally quieter and more autobiographical.

“My Whole World” establishes that direction without trying to recreate the singles that made Kings of Leon an arena act. Whether the rest of O My Beloved follows the same restrained path will become clearer when the full 13-track record arrives in November.
